Reisverslag (november 2005)
Wij hebben het gezin van Irfan bezocht. Zij wonen in een klein eenvoudig Javaans huisje in Jasinga. Irfan is een 12 jarige jongen die dit jaar met steun van onze Stichting naar de middelbare school kan gaan. Irfan’s vader Rudi is een 37 jarige arbeider. Hij doet ongeschoold maar lichamelijk zwaar werk dat weinig verdient: hij schept zand uit de rivier. Irfan’s moeder Tati is 33 jaar en vult het minimale gezinsinkomen aan met een kleine toko (straatwinkeltje) naast hun huis. Daar verkoopt zij kleine artikelen die dagelijks gebruikt worden zoals koekjes en waspoeder. Ragil is het jongere broertje van Irfan van anderhalf. Ragil is de hele dag in de buurt van zijn moeder te vinden. Zonder de steun van de Stichting kunnen ouders de schoolkosten van Irfan niet betalen.
We have visited Irfan’s family. They live in a small simple Javanese house in Jasinga. Irfan is 12 years old. He is able to go to high school with the support of our Foundation. His father, Rudi, is a 37 years old laborer. He does uneducated tough labor and earns very little: he shuffles sand and mud out of the river. Irfan’s mother Tati is 33 years old and tries to add a little bit to their daily budget by running a small toko (shop) next to their house. She sells some daily shopping products like washing powder and biscuits. Ragil is Irfan’s younger brother of 1.5 years old. He hangs around his mum all day. Without the support of the Foundation, the parents could never pay for the education of Irfan.
