Els Geerts bij Fanny’s school op bezoek samen met moeder en twee broertjes van Fanny. Fanny’s moeder, Iib (41), is in 2002 weduwvrouw geworden. Moeder was zwanger van haar derde kind toen vader overleed. Het gezin van Fanny woont sedert het overlijden van vader in bij Fanny’s opa. Iib heeft een klein buurtwinkeltje en handelt in het dorp met bijvoorbeeld cosmeticaproducten. Op die manier verdient zij geld om haar gezin zelf te onderhouden. Vorig jaar heeft Iib een microkrediet van honderd euro met SYJ afgesloten om haar ‘handel’ een extra injectie te geven.

Mother was pregnant of her third child at that time when the father died. Since the death of the father, the family lives with Fanny’s grandfather. Iib has got a little toko (local shop) in the village. She also trades in the village with products as cosmetics etc. This way, she tries to support her family. Last year, Iib agreed upon a 100 euro microcredit from the Foundation to invest in her toko.
